Celebrating Recent Award-Winning Rides — A Proud Moment for Showman Signs

At Showman Signs, we’ve always taken great pride in helping to bring the magic of the fairground to life — through colour, craftsmanship, and creativity. Every ride we decorate tells its own story, and when those rides go on to be recognised and celebrated across the country, it’s a moment of real pride for us all.

Recently, several rides that we’ve had the privilege to decorate have taken home some incredible awards — each one a testament not just to the showmen who keep these rides travelling, but to the enduring spirit and artistry of the fairground.

🎢 VOID (Extreme) – Cibbie Vlogs “Ride of the Year 2023”

Originally owned by Gerald Reeves and now proudly travelled by Christian Horne, VOID has become a standout on the circuit — earning the title of Ride of the Year 2023 from Cibbie Vlogs.

Cibbie’s online awards have become a well-loved celebration within the funfair community, spotlighting rides that truly capture public excitement and visual impact. Seeing VOID take the top spot, looking every bit as bold and striking as intended, was a brilliant moment for everyone involved.

🗽 New York New York (Superbob) – Best Ride, Nottingham Goose Fair 2023

Previously owned by Cy Abbott of Abbotts Amusements and now travelled by Tom Harris, New York New York was crowned Best Ride at the iconic Nottingham Goose Fair 2023.

With over 700 years of history, Goose Fair is one of the UK’s most famous and prestigious events — so to see one of our decorated rides take home top honours was a huge achievement. The atmosphere, lights, and heritage of Goose Fair make this award particularly special.

💨 Air Raid (Extreme) – Best Ride, Kirkcaldy Market Fair 2024

Owned and operated by Wilmot’s Attractions, Air Raid soared to success at Kirkcaldy Market Fair 2024, winning Best Ride.

Kirkcaldy’s fair is Scotland’s oldest street fair, steeped in tradition and loved by generations. It’s an event where presentation and showmanship truly shine — so seeing Air Raid recognised there was both humbling and rewarding.

⚡ Skyfall (Drop Tower) – Best Ride, Nottingham Goose Fair 2025

Another Goose Fair winner, Skyfall, owned and travelled by Tommy Matthews, took home the title of Best Ride in 2025.

Towering above the fairground skyline, Skyfall has a commanding presence — and its visual design plays a big part in that. It’s always a thrill to see how our work looks illuminated against the night sky, and this win is one we’ll remember fondly.

⏳ Time Machine (HUSS Magic) – Best New or Improved Ride or Attraction, Nottingham Goose Fair 2025

Owned by J. Mellor and The Mellors Group, Time Machine claimed the title of Best New or Improved Ride or Attraction at Goose Fair 2025.

The Mellors Group’s dedication to innovation and spectacle made this project particularly exciting to be part of. The award reflects not only the engineering and performance of the ride, but the attention to visual detail that helps transport visitors into another world — exactly what we aim to achieve with every design.

Looking Back with Gratitude

Each of these wins represents the combined effort of talented showmen, dedicated crews, and the creative community that keeps the fairground alive. We’re proud to play even a small part in that tradition — helping to ensure that the showground remains as bright, bold, and full of wonder as ever.

Here’s to the rides that make people smile, the showmen who keep the wheels turning, and the ongoing story of craftsmanship that connects us all.
